Second Opposition Group critic for municipal affairs, land occupancy, and for the Greater Montréal and Outaouais regions
A notary by training, Mario Laframboise is very aware of the realities of Quebec’s regions and municipalities. He was the president of the Union of Quebec Municipalities (UMQ) from 1997 to 2000 before being elected in 2000 as an MP for the Bloc Québécois in the riding of Argenteuil-Papineau-Mirabel. He was then re-elected in 2004, 2006 and 2008. As the warden of the Papineau RCM from 1987 to 2000, Mario Laframboise chaired the regional council for the environment and sustainable development in Outaouais from 1991 to 2000 and served as mayor of the municipality of Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix for 17 years.
